Supply chain execution is the day-to-day work of carrying out the supply chain plan: managing orders, procurement, production, warehousing, and transportation.
Execution runs on systems such as ERP, MES (manufacturing execution), WMS (warehouse management), and TMS (transportation management). Planning decides what should happen. Execution makes it happen, one transaction at a time.
The challenge is that each execution system works inside one function. When a disruption hits, no single system coordinates the response across all of them. That gap is what supply chain orchestration closes.
