Supply Chain Orchestration

Supply chain orchestration is the practice of responding to a disruption in real time: detecting it, deciding how to respond, and coordinating that response across every function at once, off one shared model of the business. Every plan eventually gets hit by a disruption. Orchestration is what happens next.

Orchestration is different from planning, visibility, and execution. Planning decides what should happen. Visibility shows what is happening. Execution systems such as ERP, WMS, and TMS record and run transactions inside each function.

Orchestration sits above all three. When reality moves away from the plan, it traces the impact across plants, orders, and customers, prices the options side by side, and coordinates one response across procurement, production, inventory, and service. The measure that matters is signal-to-action time: the hours between a disruption and a coordinated response.
